IKARUS STAGE ARTS

“According to the use you give to your wings,

you can fly or fall to the ground,

cause a tornado or offer refuge,

rikindle a fire or exthinguish it

According to the energy, the direction and the time-rhythm used

you are who decide what are the effects of your action”.

Luis Alonso

BEGINNING

"We are the youngest actors of Odin Teatret. When we moved permanently to Holstebro, Eugenio asked us to have our own project. We realized how important is the autonomy and responsibility while working are important, and how the legacy we create and the way we use the tools that we have received is fundamental.
So, we decided to start with our own project, but we couldnt do it alone, we needed crazy people with whom one can share a dream, a utopia or a necesity. And We find them ... For this reason, IKARUS STAGE ARTS was born".
Carolina Pizarro, Director

VISION

"In our process, we want our work to speak for ourselves. We are looking for quality, and to discover how we can use our body and our voice to find our identity and share new learning in the times in which we live. How can we build a new path and relationship with a group where we want to transform and improve ourselves as human beings first.
The word "Artist" is a denomination that viewers will give us or not.
But, to be "human beings" is something that relates only to ourselves and to the relationships we can build".
Luis Alonso, Director

CHALLENGE

Since the first meeting in 2017, the main challenge has been how the work realised during the various sessions at NTL in Holstebro can overcome the time-space barriers once the members return to their places of origin. The compromise is to continue together, but in the same time the aim is for them to generate management and production strategies so they can develop their own projects and we meet again bringing new energy and more experience to grow up our group.
Carolina Pizarro and Luis Alonso

Intensive period of 3 weeks, the members was  immerse in the exploration of different strategies to create scenic material, thinking the training as a bridge for creation, and integrating the study and the exchange of reflections on the practice, on the theory and its empirical application.

The main challenge, from the first meeting in 2017, was that the work realized in Holstebro could overpass the space-time boundaries in in the moment of coming back to the original places.

It’s necessary the empowerment, the authonomy and the decision of  participants, to be able to generate managment and production strategies to come back in Denmark with new strenght and experiences.
